Custom Leatherwork and Repair-The Fine Print
Written estimates will be given before any repairs are initiated.
Prior to starting work, a non-refundable deposit of ½ of the estimated total must be paid, up front. All estimates are just that: estimates. Sometimes, during repairs, more problems are uncovered. At that point we will contact the client to advise before continuing the repair.
Items shipped/picked up/dropped off for work will be held a maximum of 30 days after repair is complete. If full payment, and/or return shipping fees, are not received within this time, the item(s) becomes the property of California Custom Leather. No exceptions. We do not have the space to store saddles. (All deposits are non-refundable.)
About Repair Work
In many cases, it is cheaper to replace a piece of equipment than repair it. Especially in current times when much of the tack and saddles are cheaper imports, as opposed to hand-tooled, hand-built saddles of the past, made to last for a lifetime of service! Synthetics are very popular right now and very inexpensive to replace. So keep this in mind when determining whether to repair or replace. Replacement may be the cheapest solution, but not neccessarily the best solution, if you have a quality saddle you want to keep using.
Guarantees
I stand behind my work and repairs; safety is of utmost importance. If a repair cannot be done to guarantee the saddle safe for use, I won’t do the repair. A 1200# horse can do a lot of damage during a ‘wreck’! I like to sleep at night, so if it’s not a repair that will make the saddle stronger and safer, I won’t do it.
Shipping
As long as the owner pays the shipping to and from our shop, we are happy to give a free written estimate on saddles shipped to us for repair. Once we receive the work, we will email, or FAX, the estimate to our client. When owner contracts us to do the repair/restoration we require a non-refundible deposit of 1/2 of the total repair amount prior to starting the work. This must be paid up-front, to cover the cost of materials. (Paypal is the quickest and most secure way to pay, but we accept other forms of payment).
